Any situation or series of events having vivid, emotional, conflicting, or striking interest or results, or in other words, Drama. Every few years there seems to be that one person in the mixtape game that creates a series of vivid, emotional, conflicting, or as I would like to say great, mixtapes. Through countless numbers of mixtapes push out into the market and the undeniably oversaturated combines of the mixtape game there always seems to be that one tape where you will here someone so eloquently say…. “Gangsta Grillz you bastardsss”…and thus we have Drama. All Hail the Ipod King…Mr. Thanksgiving..or my personal favorite Barack O'Drama…..
illRoots: So who is DJ Drama, you influences and all of that?
Drama: I got a million of em’ man you know the whole world, I mean I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for those who came before me.
illRoots: Right, Right, Who is like one person that you can say that you contribute a lot of your success to as far as professionally?
Drama: My Parents.
illRoots: Where is Hip-Hop going in your eyes?
Drama: You know I’m here so I’m excited. Ss long as I got a position we gon' be alright.
illRoots: Word, with the album coming out, which is out now, who can we expect on your album, and what’s your favorite track on there?
Drama: I got a lot of em, I got an Outkast record thats crazy, Willie the Kid’s on the album, Jim Jones, Jeezy, G-Unit, Pharrell, The Clipse, Yung Joc, Twista, T.I., Lil’ Wayne.
illRoots: Who’s in the studio with you know, who can we look forward to?
Drama: Cannon, Don Cannon.
illRoots: What piece of equipment could you not be able to live without in the studio?
Drama: Pro Tools.
illRoots: What’s next for you other than the Hip-Hop game, what other ventures are you looking into?
Drama: I mean everything really, Radio, TV, Film.
illRoots: What artist that’s not necessarily hip-hop would we see you do a Gangsta Grillz Mixtape with?
Drama: Coldplay.
illRoots: Being a huge part of the mixtape game what do you think could save it right now?
Drama: Creativity.
illRoots: If you were president of any country, which one and why?
Drama: Probably the United States, because I could do a better job than George Bush.
illRoots: What’s your opinion on T.I. right now?
Drama: TIP’s good, he’s working on his album, Paper Trail, [will] be out in '08.
illRoots: So, what do want to be remembered by?
Drama: I just want to leave a good legacy, represent good hip-hop, you know do right for the culture and hopefully make a lot of money doin’ it.
