Pop Bang - Walk Wit Me (Produced By Hardwork)
Pop Bang is the Bronx. Should I say more? Okay, so maybe that is a bit ambiguous but he lives and breathes the streets of the Bronx and thus his breathes normally release a canvas of the pavement covered with children playing in the street to cold nights that have plagued the city with drugs and violence. His song Nitro has over 700BDS spins and his crew is extremely diligent. Enter Pop Bang.
illRoots.com: Why the name "Pop Bang"?
PB: My mom's been calling me Poppy since I was a baby so it was a no brainer to use pop as my rap name. The bang came when I was in the streets heavy. A bang is louder than a pop but it sounded so great together so I used both of them for my entry in the game.
illRoots.com: What do you bring to hip-hop that hasn't surfaced before?
PB: That's an easy question. I bring my story.. Part of my story may be like any nigga coming from the streets, that's why me and that type a nigga relate to each other. The other part gotta twist tho.. Through my music I bring impact, I bring feeling, and I spit with conviction! My songs have substance and meaning. Today's hiphop nation has never seen Bronx niggas getting down the way me and my niggas do on records.

illRoots.com: Coming from Washington Ave. where the Ultramagnetic MC's came from do you feel any pressure following behind them?
PB: Not at all!! I respect Ced and Keith but im not trying do what they did. Im trying pass what they did. I want my music to be classic by the time I step down. I was a lil dude when KRS one and Scott Larock hit the scene, and Scott and Ced building was right next to my building. I remember walking down the steps in my building seeing Kris and Scott tagging they name on the wall ending it with the boogie down production stamp.(THAT WAS HIPHOP). I cant forget Fat Joe and the Tat Cru getting down on the graffiti shit too.
illRoots.com Give me a synopsis of your newest project to date?
PB: It's the world as I see it in my eyes. The truth of all things street. No fabrication No bull shit.
illRoots.com:If you could write one song with one producer, give me the title of the song? and the name of the producer?
PB: I would have to say swizz beats because he's the only dude from the bx that kept hitting us with heat and his beats to date still make sense. And the name of the song will be
Bronx niggas like that old tim dog song.
illRoots.com: Growing up and seeing the streets of NY evolve into what we see today, What is your overall feeling of where hip-hop ventured to so far in 08'?
PB: Its good as far as getting our chips up but the music sucks due to lack of being original. But hey.. if these niggas wanna follow another nigga swag to get they money up…more power to them.
illRoots.com: Define Katana Enterprises?
PB: Katana to me is what aftermath is to g unit.(LET'S GET MONEY!!)
illRoots.com: So you've written songs for some of the hottest in the game, name a few, and the experiences that accompanied them?
illRoots.com: Seeing both sides of the spectrum where do you feel your niche is in society as a whole?
PB: I FEEL IM A BOSS! And I was introduced to this game to make sure my family and my niggas eat. I will be able to lead my team into victory!
illRoots.com:BANG NATIONAL in three words or less?
PB: THE NEW BRONX!!
