Ameer - I Wonder (Ft. Akon)I'm just a firm believer in not letting the business of music bleed into your sound...by all means get your money but integrity when achieving such a goal has no price on it...just create from the heart but at the same time be sharp with your business after the art is done and ready to be put in the pool for the masses...
illRoots.com: If you could describe yourself in one word what would it beAmeer: RESILIENT...Why I say that I am such a word is in my life and the adversities I overcame with loved ones, life in general, the streets etc...God has always gave me the strength to bounce back return to my original state...I have been crossed by life and people at multiple levels at times if felt like I was gonna break from being tested in such ways but through strength and faith I survive...
illRoots.com: Explain the significance of the 25th Hour Movement? Ameer: The 25th Hour Movement is more of a lifestyle within the world of hip-hop it's for the people ahead of the power curve and tastemakers not taste takers...not being afraid to push the threshold of innovation...challenging people to think and act for themselves...we stand on the solid ground of individuality and believe in it wholeheartedly...so the significance of it all is staying ahead and keeping it that way...
illRoots.com With your background in the Army do you find parallels in the government and Hip-Hop? Ameer: They both have a rank structure and seniority so I would have to say "yes" for the record...but to leave you all with something to think about who would you give the title of commander in chief...lol..
illRoots.com: With declining record sales how you plan on marketing your product and bringing your music to the light?Ameer: Currently the Internet has become more of a powerful tool than the radio itself and due to the fact my Internet presence is stronger than radio it's only right to focus on where the power is at...ONLINE....so bringing the music to the front is easier on that avenue and more effective than any other this day/age...but as far as how we get ourselves to the front will remain a enigma to the world and is a in house secret to the 25th Hour Movement...
illRoots.com: Overall they say that Hip-Hop is dead when if you love something it will never become dead to you that means you've given up on it or so I believe, take my opinion with a grain of salt..lol. Where is hip-hop going in 08'?Ameer: For me to say I know where hip-hop is headed would make me look incredibly out of touch...because the beauty of the game is not knowing where it is headed. I say that because it causes you step out of the box to test new sounds and textures of music...if anybody knew where it was headed bring him to me we need to talk...but it's no secret the game is gone digital but to what extreme we will have to wait and see....
