Men lie, Women lie, and apparently numbers do too. It has now been reported that YouTube has put their proverbial foot down on artificial view counts on videos, specifically focusing on the music industry. Universal Music Group, home of Rihanna and Nicki Minaj among others, as well as Sony were stripped of number counts on videos that total almost 2 billion views. Certain videos having also been deleted due to the inflated numbers violating YouTube's terms of service. In a world where many feel that perception is reality, in the long run, bringing a veil of honesty to view counts could speak volumes to fanbases that artists truly hold and the movements they create.
