K-Salaam W/ Rage Against The Machine, Dead Prez

For those who are unaware of what happened, this concert took place on the Minnesota State Capital Lawn, and was on the same day as the Republican National Convention. The concert was basically a stance in solidarity to what the Republicans, and the fake two-party candidate system represent. There was a great deal of resistance in general going on in Minneapolis because of the convention. There was a also great deal of police brutality, which is pretty much normal procedure in Minneapolis.

As expected, a situation occurred at the concert. Here is how it went down: As Rage Against The Machine was proceeding to get on the stage and be the grand finale performers of the night, they found themselves surrounded by state troopers and riot cops. (See the pics below.) It soon became apparent that the police were not trying to let Rage perform. After the crowd caught wind of what was going on, things kinda escalated. The entire crowd started chanting various Rage Against The Machine lyrics. It was kinda crazy. Keep in mind the crowd was about 3,000 deep. This was going for a while, and after about 20 minutes -> It was clear that Rage was officially not going to perform. I was positive that there was gonna be a riot. It was very tense, and although Minnesota is a very racist state, when it comes to activists and resistance groups, -> they go hard out there. Back to the point, Rage finally gets "escorted" off the stage by the coppers. But here is the dopest part of the sh ow. -> Instead of heading into their van and driving off, all 4 members of Rage instead walk directly into the crowd and proceed to do a concert acapella with just a bullhorn. I actually heard about Anthony B doing something like this in Jamaica, but to see one of my favorite groups do it live in my city at an event that I was DJing, -> shit was historical. Keep in mind I am watching all of this from the stage.
So that's my recap. If I left anything out, it's that I killed that shit. So did Dead Prez, so did Umi, and Anti-Flag is ridiculous. Oh yeah, at the same time that Rage was performing, about 5 minutes away on the other side of town, People of Color were getting beat down by the cops.
