Go Buy Peter's newest project: Well Dressed for the Art Show
Peter Hadar is more than just a singer but a dope song writer as well. In a time when there isn't much depth in music we see that besides him being a fashion trendsetter that he has depth in what he does.
I was away at my uncle’s house who was a Hebrew Israelite. I gave us all Hebrew names, and mine is “Hadar”, meaning to adorn. He named me this because i was always reading fashion magazines, talking about it, and styling my cousins. He was amazed by my knowledge of mags like Arena, and Homme Vogue.
Enter Peter Hadar.....
illRoots.com: In a new age where genre's are seamlessly melting together what is your take on the direction of Hip-Hop so far in 08'?
Peter Hadar:I think were going to go back to real MCing. I’m a fan of being creative and being progressive...change & everything. First time I heard Nas and the first time I heard Biggie, that’s what made me love hip-hop. Not that i don’t love what’s going on now, but i think we will go back to our roots. I love swagger, swagger is a big part of me. I love the south, I love Jeezy, I love Lil wayne, It’s not that, but I think that whenever we get to the height of something we go back to the basics. I’m a big fan of Mickey Factz, Drake, Elzi, Black Thought, and Mos Def. I believe they are still making incredible Hip-Hop. Can’t forget of course Kanye and those cats.

illRoots.com: You recently collaborated on "Another Star" with Mickey Factz give us some back story on how that came about?
Peter Hadar: Everyone was like oh you & Mickey are doing this & that in NY, and should do a record; so we did it. It was an honor, he is an extremely talented MC, and we are working on future joints as well.
illRoots.com: In my opinion, when people see difference and are threatened they classify it then called it "uncool" in an effort to receive benefits of a possible backlash. This "hipster" movement for lack of better terms is growing each day, i don't exactly agree with any type of classification of the sort since there is a lot of differences between the individuals they put into this category. Your Opinions on this?
Peter: My opinion, is bottom line, back in the day when you wore polka-dots, were you a Kwame head or did you just like fashion. I don’t get mad a classifications be-cause it is a human trait, but a lot of people classify you base on what they see. I think the hipster movement what Punk is to Rock or what Hip-hop is to jazz. It’s a movement, if you rock with it, rock with it. If you don’t you don’t.

illRoots.com You went from Fashion to Music what parallels do you see in each industry and which one is more cutthroat? and Why?
Peter: I have been fired more in fashion... but so is the music industry. They’re both shitty.
illRoots.com: I read that you want to run your own indie label one day care to elaborate on that?
