As we see the emergence of Judah, it's almost biblical how he has been building his catalogue from day one until now. With the DMV area slowly becoming a rising empire in the world of hip-hop, his stock pile of ambient sounds and underrated creativity is shining through the oversaturation of this industry. Enter Judah.illRoots.com: Why Judah?
Judah: Because Judah is the strongest of the 12 Tribes of Israel. There's so much symbolism behind the name it would take a year to explain.
illRoots.com: The most unusual object you have used to contribute to a beat?
Judah: The sound made from beating on a oatmeal bucket.
iR: Weapons of Choice in the lab?
J: Any MPC, some vinyl and some women........haha
iR: You have had several placements with rappers in the DMV area. Give me 5 Unsigned rappers in the area and what separates them from the run of the mill rapper?
J: Man you trying to start some drama aint you? Sike nah man there are several talented artist in the DMV. But in general what separates some rappers from other rappers is the business.
iR: Summarize yourself.
J: Stand up guy with a creative mind and good business sense.
iR: Give me your Musical Background.
J: I have none what so ever. I have never been trained on anything and no one taught me how to work nothing. I taught myself. I studied music on my own and started understanding it when I started studying old records etc........but I am in music theory class now so now I'm learning a little theory!
iR: How did this 'Hype Club' project come about ?
J: The good folks for the Hypes (short for Hypebeast and Hypetrak) were fans of my music (who know) and when I started putting RA's music out there they reached out to me and we established a relationship and its been money every since.
iR: Fashion has always been intertwined into music give me 5 brands to look out for in 09'?
J: I'm not a brand dude if its cool and dope ill buy it but do try to stay away from stuff a lot of people wear. Don't want to be "hypebeasting" ya know hahaha
iR: One label of any time period, who would you sign with and why?
J: The Roc or Bad Boy. The Roc had a crazy run. Let me second guess that Bad Boy thing because they was jerking people (Laughs). Yeah the roc oh and that Loud era when The Wu came out!
iR: Samples or all original composition? What do you prefer starting with a sample or from scratch.
J: Depends on how I feel that day ya know. Music is 50/50 with me. Its some days I don't want to even see a mpc and some times when you can't get me out the studio you know. It just depends on how I'm feeling.

iR: The most personal beat you've made?
J: Honestly I don't know because I make music for the artist so the music is probably more personal to them oppose to me. But when I start rapping and going in on the bammas then you can ask me that! Haha
iR: One classic song that you would like to redo with the original artist.
J: Dead President, Ether or C.R.E.A.M.
iR: We see M.I.A. being sampled like crazy since "Swagger LIke Us". What artist do you feel will get that type of treatment in 2009?
J: Man I have no idea producers bout to start sampling records that aren't even out yet! Hahaha get it.........
iR: What do you have coming production wise in the upcoming quarter?
J: I think some Stat Quo, Joell Ortiz, Ahnk Amen Ra, RAtheMc, C Rayz Walz and some other stuff that I can't remember now.
